Can’t Trust What You Read

Well, the headlines read CRIME RATE AT ODDS WITH PERSCEPTION.

STATISTICS SHOW GENERAL DECLINE, BUT MANY THINK THINGS ARE WORSE.

The FBI Uniform Crime Report shows that violent crime is on the decline starting from a high in the 1990s.  The number of homicides has dropped steadily by 40%, aggravated assaults by 36% and robberies cut in half.

Maybe that report is talking like a hot air balloon with the hope Americans will feel good. Yeah. Sure.  The public knows better because they live in the real world, not  in Washington,  DC.  They experience the violence everyday. This week a 30+year-old girl was found strangled in a park which was next to her home. Her dad was unable that evening to jog with her so she went alone. “I’ll be okay dad. Be back soon.”  Last words from her lips and hug.  Then there is the drive-by repeat shootings reported on the nightly news.  We had the Boston incident couple years ago.  And so many others across the country. Two ladies went to feed a neighbor’s cat while she was on vacation. Both were brutally murdered by a burglar who subsequently was caught.  Punishment?  Not to fit the horrible crime.  Crimes get solved; crimes are not solved.  That is the damned reality liberal s.o.bs. Oh, we feels so sorry for criminals who need a break.  We need to understand them. Yeah. Sure.  And this doesn’t take into account the cop who was murdered while pursuing a bank robber in Rochester, NY and the many slain in the service of their communities nation-wide. Maybe that needs a special classification.  Maybe the criminal needs a break because he or she was mistreated as a child or had no parental guidance that was worth a damn.  Too often, we see the blame, not on the criminal and act, but on the feel good desire to point fingers at the wrong being misunderstood.
