Kindred’s Special: From the Book of Matthew: Rest for the Weary

June 29, 2015

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Jesus spoke about the Sabbath that the Pharisees had practiced about no work on that day.  Jesus was asked if it was permitted to heal the sick during the Sabbath. Jesus withdrew and many followed him. He healed all  who were sick warning them not to reveal who he was.  This act was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory. In his name the nations will put their hope.”

Jesus spoke to his audience by denouncing the cities in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.

“Woe to you, Korazin!  Woe to you, Bethsalda! Had the miracles been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.  But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.  But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”

Why do I give you these rarely thought about quotes from Jesus? Read and study the Book of Matthew.

Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?  These two cities were so evil that they represented an abomination (a thing to be hated) in the sight of the Father who sent two angels (aliens) to visit and save Lot and his family prior to the angels destroying them by raining down burning sulfur from the heavens.  So horrible was the aimed destruction that Lot’s wife who looked back was turned to a pillar of salt.

The full story of the God’s abomination, the multitude of sinners and their destruction, can be found in Genesis 19.

The historic question is, what constitutes homosexuality and lesbianism and where did the human race alter its long-standing voice against such practices? Liberalism and the belief that mankind advances toward a condition of immortality as a thought process rather than be given as a human spiritual eternal God-love existence found birth with the progressive movement that people– men and women, would create a new world where God was merely a figment of man’s imagination rather than fact based as given in holy scripture of the Bible.  It created its own spiritual god that there was no evil, no Satan, no good or bad angels–just an unproven pipe dream that unfortunately many politicians and many in government embrace.

For the Christian, the truth is hidden within the confines of the Bible and Christian doctrine. I do not speak with contempt or rancor. I do not know the end. Only the Father knows the time, the conditions, when he will send his Son Jesus back to earth, the final battle of angels, to rule as written in the holy book:  WITH A ROD OF IRON.

These words were not chosen at random.  Why not a twig or a branch from a tree.  It is because these can be broken and destroyed.  Not so one stick composed of iron–thus, a rod of iron can be bent but not destroyed. Perhaps that word bent might suggest that Jesus is willing to bend in the hope of finding repentance and forgiveness for the human race.

Vanity–the human condition– has no foundation.  I might suggest that atheism has no foundation.  It has a loose belief stemming perhaps from a socialist view that bred such isms as communistic debauchery and proven to have no soul. No, the Bible speaks more truth than fiction.  Its history of worldly wisdom of course exists only back to the time of the written word and observance of man’s relationship within the universe–stars, land, sea.

Harry S. Truman had a sign on his desk: THE BUCK STOPS HERE.  For those of you who lack historical perspective and understanding, the S in Harry S. Truman exists only because his parents never gave him a middle name and it looked good. Sort of rhymes, doesn’t it? Well, to tell the truth I do not know about it except by hearsay.  Might be a story he told about it.  Who knows?  You don’t care; neither do I.  But these quirky things come my way so I enlighten you, my readers, for whatever it is worth.

Actually I thought of this as I sat down at my PC to write my article.  You guessed it.  I had no idea what in heck how to open up a discussion.  You caught me.  I cannot tell a lie or fabricate knowingly and I hope you do not cross me off your reading pleasures as I would be very sad if you did.

Guess I was remembering what a President he was.  He did not like the Republicans.  He despised most, I guess.  But things got done for the country without creating a lot of hatred and race baiting.  People probably loved him for his folksy manner, his daily walks in retirement, living a relatively quiet and simple life with his Bess and both cherished their daughter Margaret who appeared often on the Jimmy Durante Show displaying talent as a singer and concert pianist (if I remember).  Today, by the way, she is a well-known mystery writer who centers her crimes in the Washington, DC area.

The notion to write about waste and how to approach it baffled me because I was not inclined to merely reiterate what most of you probably hear or read everyday of every week and every month over the course of Washington politics during the Primary season.  It doesn’t take a whiz to see the waste, the corruption, the backroom shenanigans that take place.  These candidates vary little in dedication shown in seeking office which far too often revolve simply in a power scheme of sorts within various factions.  It matters only who wins and who wins is not always the best candidate for the office but one is as good in most cases as another so we all go our way once the final tallies are counted.  That is where the bickering, the element of whatever we presume to be disgust should end.

It used to be that citizens tried to select the best of the best having leadership skills necessary to meet the trying times of the period.  Still, the winds of suspicion, of crooked politics seem to boil over regardless of the best intentions of candidates to fulfill their responsibility as candidates on the eve of the elections across the nation.

All this was acceptable until the 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014 elections when the thrust was not to find fight with honor for the winner but how dirty some of the behind-the-scenes operatives could muddy the waters. The result?  A pile of mismanaged flood of literature that eventually turns off the interests of voting age citizens.  It has become a game, if it were ever anything but…

It is time for the good folks in America to stand up and tell these professional oxen to throw off their yokes and begin the road to American revitalization of the whole process in a manner with which it was and is intended.

For myself (I don’t know about you) I find it both impractical and unproductive to receive the load of correspondence I do in the vain hope of convincing me that Party loyalty means forking over hundreds of dollars to candidates directly or to the party bosses that funnel the funds into the maze of hack ads that desire to persuade support or murder reputations of honorable men and women who campaign legitimately (I would like to think so anyway) giving their own personal credentials. No one is free of this stain. Frankly, I do not need hype–just truth in belief and experience that enables their voices to be heard and weighed by voters.  Americans within the voting age should be given credit for being intelligent enough to separate weeds, garbage, and then to give their support to those whom deserve it based upon Party loyalty but more on the integrity and character traits of the slate of candidates being considered.

Finally I would like to kick the asses of those who railroaded through the ACA because my funds are no longer available due to the enormous personal expenses this Democrat President along with Ms. Pelosi forced upon the American people.  It is not only a bad bill but was designed by corruption from the top down.

I said my peace. Peace be with you readers.

Kindred’s Special: They Lamented that Chess was Dead; Tain’t so!

June 16, 2015

Why did some very famous grandmasters from the past say this?  Maybe true in the era where imagination began to stale and ideas were housed like a neatly  overloaded and tied Pandora’s box. Oh, there were great moments, great tournaments and games that saw strategic and tactical masterpieces created, but the wholeness of new ideas remained shut for many years until the emergence of young lions whose chess talent mirrored the technical developments of ever broadening breakthroughs that gels with human imagination.

The Tradewise Gibraltar Masters Tournament saw the young American lion, GM Hikaru Nakamura, triumphant over a strong field.  He is one of the best at creating new ideas over the board or, at least, being more than willing to test his ideas and judgment in important competitions. He went on to win the 2015 US Chess Championship held in Saint Louis, Mo.

White:  GM Baskaran Adhiban (2630)  vs. Black:  GM Hikaru Nakamura  (2776)  Opening: Queen’s Gambit

1. d4  d5  2. c4  d:c4  3. e4  b5!?

This move is a rare bird; maybe now that someone of Nakamura’s essaying it will make it more digestible.

4. a4  c6  5. Nc3  a6!

Old theory went 5. … b4 which has met with problems because of 6. Nce2.

6. a:b5 c:b5  7. N:b5 a:b5 8. R:a8  Bb7  9. Ra1 e6  10. Ne2  B:e4  11. b3

Alternative moves might  be 11 f3/Nc3/Be2.  HN give 11. Nc3 Bb4 12. Be2 Nf6 saying  Black is okay here.

11. … Nc6  12. Nc3

White missed 12. b:c4 Nb4 13. Nc3 Nc2+ 14. Ke2 N:d4:+ 15. Ke3 and either White or Black is winning HN.

12. … Bb4  13. Bd2  B:c3  14. B:c3 b4  15. d5  b:c3  16. d:c6 Q:d1+ 17. K:d1  c:b3  18.c7 Kd7

HN misses a sharper and clear win by 18. …Ne7 19. Bb5+ Kf8  20. Ke2 b2  21. Rad1  g5  22. Rd8+ Kg7 23. Bd3  c2!! winning.  Having missed this opportunity, the position is becoming messy.

19. Ra3!  b2  20. c8/Q+  K:c8  21. R:c3+  Kd7 22. Bd3  b1/Q+ 23. B:b1 B:b1  24. Rb3  Be4 25. Rb8 g5?!

This should have only drawn. Correct to keep a plus was 25…Bc6  26. Ke2   Ke7 27. Rc1 Be8 28. Rc7+ Kf8 which should be winning for Black.

26. Ke2 Ke7  27. h4?

The losing move and finally HN settles down and produces a very educational endgame.  White could have saved a draw probably by 27. Rc1 Kf6  28. Rcc8 Kg7 29. f3 Bf5 30. g4 Bg6 31. Re8 h5 32. h4 h:g4  33. h:g5 keeping the Knight out of play,and Black cannot get untangled.

27. … g:h4  28. R:h4  Bc6 29. Rc4 Be8  30. Rc7+ Kd6 31. Ra7 Ne7 32. Rd8+ Ke5 33. Rb7 Kf6 34. Rdb8  Ng6 35. Rb6 h5  36. f3  Ba4 37. R:h8 N:h8  38. Ke3  Ng6 39. Ra6 Bb3  40. Ra5 Bd5 41. Ra7 e5  42. Ra5 Be6 43. Rb5 h4  44.Rb1 Kg5 45. Rb5 f6 46. Rb7 Nf4  47. Kf2 Nh5  48. Rb6 Bf5 49. Rb8  Bg6  50. Rb4 Nf4  51. Ra4  Bf7 52. Ra7 Kg6 53. Ra1 Bd5 54. Rd1 Kg5  55. Rd2  f5  White Resigns.

An instructive endgame featuring Knight, Bishop, King and 3 Pawns vs. Rook, King and 2 Pawns.

The 64-square chessboard once more gives rise to a pictorial battle free of bloodshed but rich in tactics, strategy, and battle between two-minds.

Kindred’s Special: Review of the Lost and Forgotten Dragon Queen 10. ….Qb8 Part II

June 12, 2015

In the previous segment examined Black’s resources met White strategies well, but the old saying goes, what if? And here Part II we look at other ideas at White’s disposal.  After the starting moves 1. e4  c5 2. Nf3  d6 3. d4  c:d4  4. N:d4 Nf6 5. Nc3 g6 6. Be3 6…Bg7 7. f3 Nc6  8. Qd2 O-O 9. Bc4 Bd7 10. O-O-O Qb8, we examined one of four ideas (11.g4), and now lets take a peek at the others.

11. h4  suggested by Simagin seems to offer Black adequate defense.  Both 11…b5 as a postal game went 12. Nd:b5 Ne5 13. Qe2 Nh5 14. Bd5 Ng3 15. Qe1 N:h1 16. B:a8 B:b5 17. Bd5 Nc4 18.B:c4 B:c4 19. Q:h1 B:a2 left Black much better; and, 11..Rc8 12.Bb3 a5 13.a4 N:d4 14. B:d4 b5 is apropos to a Dragon Sicilian.

11. Nd5 N:d5 12. e:d5 Ne5 and 12. B:d5 Qc7 lead to playable positions with black features appearing better.

11. Bb3 Rc8 12. g4 (12.h4 is best met by 12…a5) a5 13. a4 Ne5 and 13. g5 thrust is met by 13…Ne8 with a big plus. If Black omits …a5 and tries 12…Ne5 13. g5 Ne8 14. Nd5! Kf8 15. h4 gives White a dangerous attack. Changing conditions on the board are that close.

It is wise to check out and see what computers suggest in your own research as new ideas spring forth in many openings by the theorists and analysts of tournament games.  This idea of …Qb8 instead of …Qa5 with the single or joint thrusts of a5,b5 gives rise to some very sharp positions which Dragon players love to be tangled in.

Kindred’s Special: A Revisit with the lost and long forgotten Dragon Queen

June 8, 2015

Over 50-years ago the Ukrainian bears, famous grandmasters Gufeld and Stein discovered a new interesting defense in the Dragon variation of the Sicilian Defense.

1. e4  c5  2. Nf3  d6  3. d4  c:d4  4. N:d4  Nf6  5. Nc3  g6  6. Be3  Bg7 7. f3  Nc6  8. Qd2  O-O 9. Bc4  Bd7  10. O-O-O.

Alternative tries at this point exist mainly in 10. Bb3 (Fischer) and 10. h4.  Here we lay aside both to look at castles which often saw 10….Qa5 inorder to hurry the Rc8 to half-open file.

It was here that the Ukrainian pair probably thought, “What’s wrong with the sharp play to get the a & b pawn into an early counterattack?”  We witness out of the archives of history such ideas being born.  Sadly, the whole idea was set back due to heavy analysis by the host of Soviet Grandmasters and others across the world from amateur to the top of the chessworld.  Still, the whole of it bears fruit because the idea of …Qb8 allows the heavy pieces quickly to the Q-side where the White King resides.  On the b8 square, the Queen will not be harassed by White’s Knight sortie to b3.

It was soon determined that four ideas for White were; 11. g4 / h4 / Bb3 / Nd5.

Postalite Gary Reynolds thought  Black is well prepared for battle against 11. g4 with 11. …a5!  12. Nd5 best but not 12. h4 b5! Then, 12…N:d5 13. B:d5 Nb4 14. a3 e6 15.a:b4  a:b or, if 14. Kb1 Bc6 with good play. What happens on 12. g5 Nh5 13. Nd5 Qd8 14. N:c6 b:c6 15. Bb6 Rb8 16. B:d8 B:d2+ 17. Kb1 Bc3+ 18. Bb3 B:d2 19. N;e7+ Kg7 20. R:d2 Rf:d8 21. R:d6 Kf8 looks okay for Black.

Supposing White tries to block up the a-pawn advance with 12. a4 but it seems like Black pieces begin to find activity. 12…Rfc8  13. Qe2 Ne5 14. Bb3 R:c3!! A sharp tactic familiar with Dragon players. 15. b:c3 Qc7 16. Bd2 Rc8 17. Rhf1 Qc5  18. Nb5 Nc4  19. Q:c4 Desiring a trade of Queens because of the threat …B:b4! > Qa3+. 19..Q:c4 20. B:c4 R:c4  21. Kb2 R:a4 22. Nd4  Rc4  23. Ra1 a4 With bind on the position, White finds the Exchange rather useless as Pawns are shattered which makes Black very happy!

Well! All you chess nuts out there who share this sizzling game play, I have hopefully stimulated your curiosity to see more but enough for now.

Kindred’s Special: Opinions–Just some of the stuff I’ve seen riles me so……

June 5, 2015

It all started some time ago when I awoke yesterday with a feeling of despair: “What in hell is happening to the human race?”  Oh, excuse me!  Did I say that naughty word “hell”?  Don’t call out the security police or the black watchdogs like the good Reverend Sharpton who as yet to pay his fair share of taxes to satisfy the inner-city youth who destroy everything in “site”! Let me see, did he not pay them? But was it enough to cover the site-waste he brought on with his lying loose tongue?  The sad affair of life remains with the question: If good folks suffer, when will we see the bad reap their justice?  Don’t even nap on it; it won’t happen. Why?  The flock doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong–that has been replaced by right and left and more left by the liberals from the Democrats to the media bigwigs, to Californian and New York City crowd.

Guess what really got me riled most was the Opinion Page by Chuck Wells, the Times Columnist.  No, let me clarify that because I refer not to the New York Times but the greatest little paper we relish here at home, Times of Wayne County.  I highly recommend it!

Some have the talent to purify the air we breathe. A knack exists with them to nail a coffin shut or nullify tainted words that liberals so fondly spew.  Just what are such words that seem to spread out like leaves on an elm tree?  My generation grew up with love and hate in our hearts in unison with past and future I’m sure.  But it has always been with fairness and to define the lesson to learn.  Lacking today is the very point that there is often no point to make.

Lets take the term racist.  Is there any reason behind its use in tone or print?  Just read where it is used today! “You’re a racist!”  Now, think about it for a moment.  It is commonly said by journalists of the left-wing papers, hate mongers and broadcast news. It carries with it a sting but defines little to nothing of creative imagination by conveying the simple word “fact” ! for the impression it certainly leaves having no definitive value other than to label it in a derogatory fashion.

Lets take the newest term “City Cousins” that landed the Henrietta Supervisor for calling a black citizen that term.  Seems a little far fetched for calling city cousin as racist.  I, myself, have cousins who live in the city of Rochester. Good heavens!!!  Where is the next racist term being hatched?  God.  I tire of reading such crap as all this in a world of educated people.  Or is that the real problem?  People having limited vocabulary think everything is being said in a negative–finger pointing way aimed directly at them.  In fact, did I not just possibly hit the nail on the head as some of my readers tell me I do?

Now, the term got to me last night was “thug” and sure enough that pops up as another new definition. And while I am at it, lets look at older terminology that liberals have redefined:

Wife– unpaid sex worker; Loser– a deferred success person;  Ghetto–economically disadvantaged area caused by discrimination.  (I always thought it was because of a lack of self and group motivation to improve conditions by not blaming anybody but oneself.  Guess I put my foot in my mouth again liberals.  But truth hurts doesn’t it?);  Ugly–visually impaired but we cannot all be handsome or beautiful except on the inside by the Heart where only it counts;  Fairy–I only see as a good ole tale as in Fairy Tale; White trash– person of European descent who needs a suntan.

Little Larry said to his dad after leaving Bible School, “I want to give some chocolate “kisses” to AL QAEDA.  That may bring out the love we share as the Bible preaches–“Love thy neighbor as thy self.”  His dad said it was a lesson from the class.  Yes, his son said, “when the buggers retrieved the candy kisses, the Marines could blow the crap out of them..”

Well, if I didn’t confuse you, I must admit I remain so.  I really do not know why liberals profess compassion but actions speak louder  than words. They can say anything hurtful and immediately be forgiven.  They get a free pass for cheating, lying, stealing and saying just plain stupid idiotic things.  Obama, Hillary, Biden, Reid and Pelosi are good millionaire examples.

Kindred’s Special: I Live For Truth, Justice and the American Way

June 4, 2015

Like Superman, Clark Kent had to disguise his powers and used the power of the typewriter and press to bring truth, justice and the American Way to combat the evils in his make-believe world.  This profound statement fits today’s real world and definitively describes the difference between fantasy and reality.

The power of the Press and modern media across-the-board is largely based in Washington, D.C.  It is good; it is evil.  What is this conflicting comparison of the words, “good” and “evil”?  It is my belief that when such entities purposely skew the facts to fit an agenda meant to confuse issues and to bolster a false sense of the President’s role as “protector” to one of political divisiveness solely for the purpose of exerting more personal party power, it is time for me to say, “enough is enough” and I have no power other than my blog columns to zero in on the fallacies of corruption which runs rampant in the Halls of D.C. And such a finding of writings and pen scratches simply depends upon my readers who comfortably agree as well as dissenters who lambast material they find objectionable.  It is my belief that one side seeks truth and justice while the other basks in the dark shadows of a cloudy moonshine and revels in the knowledge that politics is just a game for exerting an ever growing power grab by one party over the others.  In this case, the present Administration is fully guilty and endangers security for expanding such power that is seen in “the vote”.  It reminds us of the purpose of a free Press to provide a free American public citizenry to have an educated guess in support of candidates as they weigh issues and enter the voting booth to cast their ballot.  I also believe that a negativity exist among a segment of the population that stays home with the attitude that their vote won’t count or just plain “disgust” at the whole business.  Government rules by the power of the people to select those who govern.  Never forget that. American values are unique.  The VOTE is the one link between government and the individual and the given authority to rule.
