Kindred’s Special: Matthew 24 Provides Us the Essence of Christian Belief

The Biblical account in the book of Matthew gives Jesus’ parable lesson describing the events that will portray both the approach as well as clear signs of the end time when he promised to return in the clouds like lightning flashes from east toward the west.

34/ Assuredly, I say to you, “this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. (Jesus holds out his arms to shelter believers).

35/ “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (In this comment, Jesus says his flock need not fear).

36/ “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. (Encourages his flock to be ever watchful and prepared without fear for the coming of the Lord and angels on high.)

37/-38/-39/ “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. (People conducted business, marrying, eating and drinking in self gratifications of every kind until the floods came and Noah entered the Ark per instructions.)

40/-41/-42/ In every two of a kind, one will be taken and one left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.

43/44 /  “But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.  Therefore, also be ready for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.  (These are warnings of the need for us to always be watchful for the Lord’s return as promised.)

The question is this: Can we plead ignorance in the last day asking for the chance to repent of past sins?  Those agnostics, non-believers, lukewarm followers in name only who in personal lives bring disgust upon the throne of the Almighty?  For those who voice love and faith but in their daily lives rebuke the lessons given and joy of Jesus’ teachings by following a path leading to share eternal Hell with the devil and his angels will likely be the biggest sin of mankind at the end.
