Kindred Spirit: US Government & University Rip-offs Leave Unwary Students in the Soup

Personally I did not get much out of the meat of the headline in the D&C called: SUNY to clarify tuition costs–White House meets college officials.  Raju Chebium of the Gannett Washington Bureau presented a rather obscure report that seemed to leave me totally in the dark. Of course, like always, it lists a large number of very important and elite people who specialize in regulations of such a project but unable to convey an intelligent direction that fits the headline.

Nancy Zimpher, SUNY Chancellor, highlighted her talk with: “If every university participates, it will allow students to really compare costs and the implications of the costs across campuses.” Just look who is aboard the good ship enterprise: VP Joe Biden, ES Arne Duncan, CFPB Director Richard Cordray and DPC Director Cecilia Munoz were in attendance to hash out the White House agenda.

President of the Institute for College Access & Success Lauren Asher said, “This is a step in the right direction for students and families, who all deserve clear, comparable, and consumer-friendly financial aid offers. It’s hard enough to figure out how to pay for college without confusing, obscure, and or misleading information about costs and aid.”

Frankly I find it hard to understand the language of this elite body.  Does anyone else have that problem? or am I just stupid in usage of the English language. Is there any wonder why so little gets accomplished in a meaningful way in Washington, DC?  The clarity of which they speak and purpose for meeting seems a bit unclear to me…a baloon filled with air.

The GOP House approved extension of the 3.4% rate on loans eliminating the called for hike to 6.8% scheduled for July 1st.  The House deserves a halo over it.

There is a stench and a dirty little secret of those in the Education Department that I hope to expose here with my own commonsense view.  Things never looked right to me. Examine for example, the whole idea of the Student Loan Program hailed as a God-send for students seeking a higher education.  The greedy universities and colleges saw a means whereby they could soak the American public and students for quality education that previously had been obtained at a fraction of what was to become a standard rip-off of students nation-wide.  Never mind the quality.  In fact, most parents were deceived as well as their kids who were led to believe the quality of education depended entirely upon the cost of the bill.  Quality came to mean prestigious schools even though many professors were leftwing communists evolving out of the 30s-50s generation of pinko parents as Dr. Michael Savage called them.  The pay for quality was shortchanged due to the fact that a  professor often delegated to a qualified student a chance to lecture his classes.  Parental students were paying for quality but getting shafted by professors who were writing papers or books.  Of course the practice was overlooked by the college administrators who worked overtime getting wealth built up to ever new highs through expanding sports programs. And in all this, the politicians could say to the masses, “Look at the great things our Party did to ensure quality education for your kids.”  And the result, like many good ideas, fail in actual performance due to the greed and self-gratification exhibited in the philosophical warehouse of politicians and bureaucrats.

In the outside world of educational opportunities that has emerged is the Khao Academy, totally free with thousands of lectures on videos for students desiring a deeper education toward uncovering the mysteries of life and the universe which encompass a host of tools toward wisdom never before in the grasp of student learning supplies. This on-line source can be viewed by doing a search on the name I listed.  It is something to investigate.

Earlier I mentioned in comments that some students can do well by signing up with a two-year college and then transferring to a  four-year program which may be a cost-saving prospect if available to your student(s).  The hype that college away from home should be a student’s growth pattern for quality education may sound good, but so does the high price the student is saddled with.  Another avenue is a tour in the military where education is free in exchange for service.  This also could be a step up in thinking for interested colleges to hire students to work for the university with little or no expense.  This is a program that Newt Gingrich reported on in the debates and sounds like a great idea for expansion to most of our universities and colleges.

I have a feeling that our Nation is on the brink of new and spiraling inroads that will bring much benefit to our labors, social network and educational opportunities. But it will depend upon the freedoms we aspire to maintain and way of life, not the socialism seen in many parts of the world.

I do not understand how these beautiful girls can lower their moral values by exposing themselves much the way they do. Wonder if their parents ever view them in this light?/Don.
